What is the Foundation Skills and Employment Academy

The Foundation Skills and Employment Academy at VisionLink Solutions, LLC is a comprehensive training program for individuals who are blind or have low vision and want to build the practical skills needed for greater independence and workplace readiness. This academy is structured as an intensive 9-month program with a time commitment of 5 days per week for 6 hours per day.

The program combines independent living instruction, assistive technology training, communication development, and employment readiness services into one structured academy experience. Training is hands-on, individualized, and focused on helping participants succeed at home, in the community, and in future educational or work environments.

Program Length: Minimum of 9 months

Schedule: 5 days per week, 6 hours per day

Focus: Independent Living, Assistive Technology, Communication, and Employment Readiness.

What the Academy Teaches

Independent Living Skills

Training in cooking, cleaning, laundry, organization, money management, and other daily living routines that support independence.

Assistive Technology

Instruction in screen readers, magnification, computers, smartphones, accessible apps, and adaptive tools used in daily life and work.

Communication Skills

Development of effective communication, self-advocacy, professional interaction, and confidence in personal and workplace settings.

Employment Readiness

Preparation in workplace behavior, time management, job readiness, organization, problem-solving, and employment-related expectations.
